In 2005, in order to sell the latest major developments in the area, the Urban Regeneration Authority spent $400,000 on a branding exercise to name the Marina Bay area, only to settle with the initial name 'Marina Bay.'

The Government of Singapore has invested $35 million to complete the 3.5-km Waterfront Promenade around Marina Bay. This involves a new eco-friendly visitor center and The Helix connecting the front of the Bay to the Marina Centre, where the Youth Olympic Park is situated. Sands Sky Park is an unsheltered area with an unpleasant atmosphere. Should heavy rain or lightning occur, for the safety of our guests, it can be closed quickly.
