Ranipet means' Queen's Place.' The town was established by Sadut-illa-khan in 1771 and was named in honour of Desingh Raja of Gingee's young widow. By committing the ancient (and now banned) Indian practise of 'sati', suicide by setting herself on fire, she preceded her husband into death.Located just 20 km from Vellore, Ranipet is more or less a suburban area. A veterinary hospital called IVPM is in place.Scudder Memorial Hospital, which was built during the British era, still provides patients with an amazing service. Multiple Govt. & Private Schools, which began during the British times, continue to offer good education.

Orchha is a town in Niwari district of Madhya Pradesh state, India.
