About Temple: Sri Varthamaneeswarar temple is located in the village named Thirupugalur, in the district of
Tiruvarur, in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. The main deity of this temple is
Varthamaneeswarar (Lord Shiva) and his consorts Adi Kamakshi.

History:

• The holy tree of this temple is none in the shrine’s complex. The holy water of this temple is none. 
• The agamam or pooja of this temple is known as Kameeyam. 
• This temple is nearly 1000-2000 years old in this region. The historical name of this place is none.
• As per the Hindu religious scholars and pundits, the temple is nearly 1000-2000 years old.
• The main festival of this shrine is Navarathri (September-October) grandly celebrated in a good festive manner for 13 days in the temple. 
• During the first nine days, Adi Kamakshi is well dressed specially and totally differently. On the 11th day, the Goddess is fully covered with sandal paste. 
• On the last day, the Goddess is taken in procession in a palanquin decorated with flowers.
• It is to be remembered that special Shivarathri pujas, rituals and homams are also conducted in this temple. 
• The temple remains open for devotees throughout the day without any break.
• As per the Hindu calendar. Shivarathri day is celebrated in a grand manner in this temple.
• The initial puja is conducted on Sri Chakra (Lord Vishnu) in this temple and special pujas are conducted on the night of full moon day in each month. 
• The devotees visit this for early marriage and unity and harmony among the couples. 
• On special days and auspicious days, the temple remains open for long hours for devotees.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Thiruvarur Sightseeing

Pick up from Theni/Dindigul. Proceeding towards Thiruvarur Hotel Check in. Then proceed to visit Veerataneswarar Temple, Thiruvirkudi, Arulmigu Abathsahyeswarar Temple. Arulmigu Saraswathi Temple. Come back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 2 - Thiruvarur Sightseeing

After Refreshment and Breakfast at Hotel. Check out from Hotel. Then proceed to visit Sri Varthamaneeswarar temple. Sri Agnieeswarar Temple sri Seshapureeswarar Temple. Then Starting Our Journey Towards Theni/Dindigul.
