About Temple: Ambal Brahmapureeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple located at Ambal in Thiruvarur district of
Tamilnadu. Now the place is known as Koilpatthu.It is one of the shrines of the
275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram poems by Tamil
Saivite Nayanar Tirugnanasambandar. This is the 171st Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 54th
Sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. Somaasimaara Naayanar was born in this
place. This place is also called as Amparperuntirukkoil, Brahmapuri and Punnakavanam.

History:

• This Shivastalam temple is one of the oldest and one among the 70 Maadakovils built by Ko Chenkata
  Cholan. The main Raja Gopuram is of three storeys and two prakaram.
  
• The shrine of presiding male deity is facing east and that of presiding female deity is facing south. Thereis a shrine for Vinayakar who is known as Padikkasu Pillaiyar. 
• In the sanctum of Padikkasu Vinayakar, there are three small Vinayaka icons in succession. 
• In the paved corridor are the sanctum of Vinayakar,Subramanyar, Mahalakshmi and Jambukeswarar. The sanctum of the Goddess, who is standing, is separate. Outside to the sanctum, on both the sides are the sanctum of Adippoora Amman and the
  bed chamber.
• After going around the sanctum and climbing up the steps and reach the upper storey, we can see Lord
  Somaskanda’s sanctum and the prime icons of Vinayaka, Kochengata Cholan, Saraswathi, Sambandar
  and Appar. 
• Worshipping the Door-Guards and Lord Vinayaka, we can enter through the small doorway
  and worship the Prime Deity in the sanctum. On the rear side of the Prime Deity appears Lord
  Somaskanda. On the right is the court of Lord Nataraja. There are three Ampalavaana icons in this
  temple.
  
• As koshta icons are Vinayaka, Dakshinamurthy, Mahavishnu and Brahma. The festival icons that can be
  worshipped are the big icon standing with Nandi who revealed to Brahma, Brahma and Naalvar. 
• Other
  notable shrines are Paathaleswarar on the north side and Punnagavareswarar under the Punnai tree.
  The three inscriptions in this temple belong to the periods of King Raja Raja Cholan and King
  Kulothunga III.
  

Itinerary

Day 1 - Thiruvarur Sightseeing

Pick up from Theni/Dindigul. Proceeding towards Thiruvarur Hotel Check in. Then proceed to visit Veerataneswarar Temple, Thiruvirkudi, Arulmigu Abathsahyeswarar Temple. Arulmigu Saraswathi Temple. Come back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 2 - Thiruvarur Sightseeing

After Refreshment and Breakfast at Hotel. Check out from Hotel. Then proceed to visit Ambal Brahmapureeswarar Temple, Thiruvarur Sri Agnieeswarar Temple sri Seshapureeswarar Temple. Then Starting Our Journey Towards Theni/Dindigul.
