About Temple: Brahmapureeswarar Temple or Tiurkolili is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located
in Thirukkuvalai in Nagapattinam district of Tamilnadu, India. The temple is revered by the hymns of 7th
century Tamil Saivite poets, Appar, Sundarar & Sampanthar & is classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam. This
is the 240th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 123rd Sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery
in Chozhanadu.

History:

• The main deity in this temple is Brahmapureeswarar, a small swayambu lingam, kept covered with a kavacham. 
• Abhishekam to the Moolavar is performed only on every Amavasya (new moon days). His consort is Brihannayaki. Both Swami and Ambal Sannadhis face east. 
• Thyagaraja Sannadhi is on the right of Sanctum where Brahmapureeswarar is the main deity. The Vidangar here is Avani Vidangar and the Abhishekam is performed every day at 9AM and 6 PM.
• To get rid of Dosham (Brahmahatthi Dhosham) by killing Bahasuran, Veeman worshiped Lord of this
  temple. 
• This story is depicted in the sudhai Sirpam in the Rajagopuram. Moolavar is of white sand and
  always coved with Kuvalai and hence this place is called as Thirukkuvalai.
  
• Sannadhi for Sundarar with his wife Paravai, Thyaga Vinayagar, Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Indira
  Pureeswarar, Chokkalingam, Annamalayar, Naalvar, Mahalakshmi, Navagrahas (all are facing south
  direction in a single row). 
• In koshtam Arthanareeswarar, Brahma, Durgai, Umamahesvara, Natarajar,
  Narthana Ganapathy, Pitchadanar, Dhakshinamoorthy and Thirumal with Sangu and Chakkaram are
  present. The sthala Viruksham is Thetha maram.
  

Itinerary

Day 1 - Nagapattinam Sightseeing

Proceed towards Nagapattinam. Then transfer to Hotel. Hotel Check In. Then proceed to visit Dutch Fort. Kayarohanaswamy Temple. Sikkal Singaravelar Temple. Come back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 2 - Nagapattinam Sightseeing

Morning Breakfast at Hotel. Check out from Hotel. Then Proceed towards Brahmapureeswarar Temple (Kolilinaathar), Thirukkuvalai. Soundaryaraja Perumal Temple. Nellukadai Mariamman Temple. Finally drop at Railway Junction / Airport.
