Mirjan Fort : A mark of cultural glory, Mirjan Fort is located on National Highway 66, about 11 kilometres from Gomarna. The architecture and cultural wonders of the 16th century made this place a famous tourist attraction.

Of all those legends, the most famous and generally accepted is that of Queen Chennabhairadevi. She is a famous historical figure as she built the fort in the 16th century during her matriarchal reign of 54 years.
The Mirjan Fort is packed with high ceilings and bastions, flanked by the banks of the Agnanishi River. The fort has four main entrances, each of which is laid out with steps made of laterite stone, which is also the material used to create the remainder of the fort. Several wells connected to the moat are interspersed with it.
It is said that this interlinking is part of a defensive mechanism used to safeguard the fort from external attacks. Thus, within its periphery, the fort was a place for several battalions and still defied the test of time.
