Mango Meadows Agricultural Theme Park : In Kaduthuruthy, Kerala , India, Mango Meadows is an agricultural theme park. It is one of the most biodiverse areas on earth, with more than 4800 plant species, including 1900 medicinal plant species, 700 trees and 900 flowering plant species. In the park, uncommon species are present, such as Ficus alii tree or Ficus maclellandii, Beggar's bowl or Calabash, Camphor tree or Cinnamomum camphora, Damas tree or Conocarpus lancifolius, Rudraksha or Elaeocarpus ganitrus, Kattupoovarash or Rhododendron arboreum.
The major park attractions are Eden Garden, Nakshatra Vriksha Junction, Valentine's Garden, Domestic Animal Farm, Tea Garden, Telescope Tower, Meenoott Palam and Vegetable Farm. The park also contains the world's tallest statue of Parashurama, standing about 35 metres, as well as the Bible 's largest statue, standing 25 metres by 25 ft.
Thanneermukkom Bund : As part of the Kuttanad Construction Project, the Thanneermukkom Bund was built to stop tidal activity and salt water intrusion into the low-lands of Kuttanad through Vembanad Lake between Thannermukkom on the west and Vechur on the east. Thanneermukkom Bund was built in 1974 and has been operational since 1976. In India, it is the main mud regulator. In India, it is the main mud regulator. This boundary effectively splits the lake into two sections-one with perennial brackish water and the other half with fresh water fed into the lake by the rivers.
Sree Kumaramangalam Subramanyaswamy Temple : Lord Murugan is dedicated to Sree Kumaramangalam Subramanyaswamy Temple. The banks of vembanad lake, which provides this temple with a clam and fresh atmosphere, are situated. The temple is so good and you feel so happy about being in this place. I went here for darshan in the morning, and like other temple men from Kerala, I'm not allowed to wear tops. Inside the temple, the whole aura is sacred.
Places to visit in Kumarakom
Chavara Bhavan : Shrine & pilgrimage destination devoted to the Catholic priest Elias Chavara of the 19th century. Kuttanad is referred to as Kerala's granary. Surrounded by paddy fields, backwaters and waterways, the scenic view of Kuttanad is very stunning. The population in Kuttanad are mainly farmers. And during the old days, the lives of the residents in Kuttanad were in distress due to hunger, infectious diseases and floods. It was during that time, on February 10, 1805, that St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was born in Kainakary village.
Kuriakose and Mariam's Chavara family were showered with the blessings of God and Kuriakose was the third child. And in the face of all hardships, children have grown up with true trust in God and love for others in the shadow of their caring parents. His family was a true gift from Heaven for the virtuous life of Kuriakose.
Mozart Art Gallery : The Mozart Art Gallery is a haven for art enthusiasts and lovers in the residential apartments of Mr. M. Somu, in the Ayemen village of Kottayam. This private initiative provides artists across countries with a forum to display the methodology and practise behind drawing, sketching and other fine arts with the aim of popularising fine arts and imparting knowledge of contemporary and classical paintings and sketches. The gallery is a fine reflection of Mr. Somu's portraits and works, where a number of colours have been used, including acrylic, oil, charcoal, pencil and other variations.
Bay Island Driftwood Museum : The Bay Island Driftwood Museum, founded by Raji Punnoose, a school teacher in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is renowned for its groundbreaking contemporary art techniques used to create different kinds of root and tree trunk sculptures. Other driftwood sculptures are also on view here, consisting of bent tree trunks, stumps, roots, etc. During her teaching days, she created this collection in the form of birds , rodents, reptiles , amphibians and fish. The interesting and expansive curation methods helped to list the museum in the Limca Books of History.
Kumarakom Craft Museum : The Kumarakom Craft Museum has an outstanding collection of antiques, including woodwork, decorative pieces, sculptures, portraits, etc. This is where much of the well-preserved antiques or traditional objects that belong to the city can be found. It is also possible to buy local artwork and craftwork from the museum store.
Kumarakom Beach : Kumarakom Beach is a popular spot for leisure activity and water sports. The clean, pristine waters are perfect for swimming. The glimmering beaches, the gentle waves, many restaurants and resorts make it the city's dream tourist attraction. This is one of the beaches where delectable seafood can be found.
St Mary's Church : In 1579, St. Mary 's Church was built at Cheriapally. It is part of the Syrian Orthodox Church of Malankara and is one of the country's oldest Orthodox churches. The Church Metropolitans belonged to 3 families in the region. The lovely construction is an amalgamation of very well preserved Kerala and Persian architectural style.
Toddy Shops : One feature that could attract your eye during your boat ride or while on a walk through the village is a small thatched building with a black board outside with 'Kallu' prominently written in white. This is a traditional Kumarakom children's store, although many now have tiled or concrete roofs.
Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall : Aruvikkuzhi is a waterfall that is active during the Kerala monsoons and during the summers it is all dried up. On the weekends, the location draws many tourists as it is a popular picnic spot due to its natural surroundings. You are brought to the cascading water flowing over rocks by the meandering natural paths. It is enveloped by dense forests of rubber that provide a serene and idyllic atmosphere. If the sunshine glows on the descending water, every hour it changes colour and warmth. For hours, children have endless fun bathing under the waterfall as elders sit gleefully absorbing and moment of the bounty of nature.
