Lake Punganoor Park : One of the popular places to visit in Yelagiri, which is visited by tourists throughout the year, is Punganoor Lake-cum-Park. Since the local people can provide directions, this lake-cum-park is not very hard to find. In addition to the park, which is bathed in lush greenery, the site is a favourite among tourists for its serene atmosphere. Boating is the chief attraction in this area.
It is here that people come to enjoy the scenery from all age groups. The elegance and tranquilly offered by Pungannoor Lake Park makes the whole experience a riveting one. There are quite a few in the city, both modest and luxury hotels. Guests like to take a quick and peaceful stroll to the lake from their hotel and are also seen participating in a boat ride. To access the park, there is a minimum admission fee that you will be expected to pay. It should be remembered that picnicking is not allowed by the park authorities, thereby ensuring the park remains litter-free and well-maintained.
Park of Nature : One of the most peaceful and quiet places to visit is the Nature Park in Yelagiri, located right in the lap of nature, offering some of the most breathtaking views. This park is mentioned in Yelagiri as one of the best spots to visit.
This lush place is adjacent to Punganoor Lake, another popular Yelagiri tourist spot. It is scattered over an area of over 12 sprawling acres, and is home to numerous plant species that specifically thrive in this particular region's rugged terrain.
The artificial cascade of the resident waterfalls is one of the most beautiful features of the park. It is also permitted for tourists to take a bath in the water. In addition to a musical fountain that is augmented by multi-colored lighting, the park has a children's corner, a favourite among visitors.
Watching the water fountain as it dances to the beat of some of today's popular music is interesting. The inclusion of a fish tank that is the home of a variety of fish and tortoises is another fascinating aspect of the park, and is a hit among the kids who come with their parents.
The seasonal garden, a specially constructed bamboo house, a polyhouse, among other facilities that make this park a significant place of interest in Yelagiri, are the other notable attractions here.
Waterfalls from Jalagamparai : The Jalagamparai Waterfalls are one of the other places to visit in Yelagiri. This waterfall is a short distance from the main area of Yelagiri and is situated on the other side of the main area of the hill station.
Just 14 km from Tirupattur, the falls are situated. The famous Attaru River meanders from a considerable height through the mighty Yelagiri Hills and cascades down to form a stunning and captivating waterfall that is a renowned tourist attraction.
With most people choosing to stroll or trek to the falls, the cascades are just around a 5 km stroll from the Yelagiri downhill. This route is always closed for safety reasons, despite having a direct path from Yelagiri to the falls.
You will have to go down the hill to hit the plains in order to make your way to the destination, and then go on to ascend the hill on the other side. While it could take an hour on foot to fly, it's a pleasurable one.
In the early days of November to around mid-February, the waterfall looks its genius best since the water that flows is in abundance compared to the other months of the year. In fact, the water flow from the falls decreases considerably during the summer months compared to a few years back.
Observatory for Telescopes : One of the major tourist attractions of this destination is the Vainu Bappu Observatory, or more generally referred to as the Telescope Observatory, making it one of the best places to visit in Yelagiri. Hills of Swamimalai : The Swamimalai Hills are the highest point in the Yelagiri region and one of the most beautiful tourist places in Yelagiri, offering some of the most picturesque views of the entire hill station. Except during the monsoons, these hills are visited by tourists during the year as it is not entirely safe to visit at that time due to landslides and heavy torrential rainfall.
What is so interesting about these hills is that they are shaped in the form of a cake, with a solid base at the bottom and a high top, offering majestic views. Because of the height of the peaks, trekking is a big attraction.?
One of the most popular treks undertaken by tourists in this region leads to a very small peak that then offers a spectacular view of the whole valley below. Swamimalai's long trek is not difficult and typically begins with a muddy road. The climb is certainly worth the view from the hill. The breath-taking landscape of greenery and mountains surrounding you on all sides will enchant you, even when you are close to the clouds.

Some of the most stunning views are offered. It is here that, from the top of the hill, one can get a mesmerising look at the vast and picturesque plains.
Often, the temple bells ring at the top of the mountain at a certain time in the day, which stands as a symbol of the movement of life and helps keep the rich culture of the place alive. The place is steeped in history and culturally vibrant. Inside the beautiful environment, the vibrancy of the community can make for a memorable journey.
In addition to other aesthetic sculptures, one can find a massive statue of the mythological character Gadothgajan at the temple in a standing pose.During the month of July, the Aadi festival is celebrated with fervour, where devotees from the plains take a pilgrimage to this temple to give prayers. The trek to the holy spot will energise you spiritually and give you peace of mind, offering a quiet experience.
