Wadi Shab : Oman is also renowned for its wadis (canyons), in addition to its immense deserts. A beautiful place to visit in Oman, Wadi Shab is ideal for a day trip to avoid the noisy environment of Muscat. It will take you just one hour to walk up to the first turquoise water pools, which are easy to reach. As a surprise awaits you, swim until the end of the last tub. I'm not going to ruin it.
Sinkhole of Bimmah : This sinkhole is a curious thing to stop by on the way to Sur and Ras Al Jinz (turtle watching). Expect lots of sightseers and almost nothing around it. Swimming in the sinkhole water is feasible, but beware of the many paparazzi around the water tank. It's very spectacular, so don't expect to spend more than an hour there. It's totally worth seeing.
Factory at Sur Dhow : Ancient Arabic vessels used for fishing and commercial activities are Dhow boats. It's still used in Oman to this day and is a sign of Omani craftsmanship. Many travellers just pass through Sur without stopping on their way to Ras Al Jinz (turtle watching). Don't make the same mistake and just stop looking!
Wadi Bani Khalid : A great canyoning destination is Wadi Bani Khalid. Not as beautiful as Wadi Shab, the tourist section of the canyon is the only one accessible by car, family-friendly and with on-site facilities. After an early morning turtle-watching at Ras Al Jinz, it is great for spending a relaxing day in turquoise water pools. Recommended, but instead of going to Wadi Shab or canyoning, if you only have the time to visit one wadi and are slightly fit.
