VEERAPANDI GOWMARI AMMMAN TEMPLE:The ethiological history of the temple reveals that God prayed to King Veerapandiya to bless him to restore the eyesight that had been lost because of his ill fate. In his dream, God appeared and said that he would go through the bank of the Vaigai River to the forest called Nimba Aranyam, where he will worship and pray to Goddess Gowmari and recover his lost eyesight. The goddess Gowmari restored one eye's sight and prayed to the god Arulmigu Kanneeswaramudaiyar to restore the other eye's sight.
