Cumbummettu is a small village in the Nedumkandom Block in the Kerala State district of Idukki, India. It comes under the Panchayath of Karunapuram. It belongs to a division of Central Kerala. It is located 34 KM to the east of Painavu District Headquarters. From Nedumkandam 14 KM. 165 KM from Thiruvananthapuram State Capital, My home town is cumbummettu, there is a history behind the name, a lady named Janaki stayed there in the 1970's. So that place's name was Janakimettu, later the community came from the state border Cumbum from Tamilnadu for work & business purpose. The name also gradually changed from Janakimettu to Cumbummettu.
According to sources at the State Highways Department, the Cumbum Mettu Road will be closed from June 8. Either through Theni-Kumuli Ghat Road or through Bodimettu Road, all vehicles are diverted. Not only will the highways take up patch work and relay the road, but the narrow stretches and hazardous curves will also be widened for smooth vehicle flow. The work was scheduled to be completed as early as possible and the road was ready for the next Sabarimala season.
