The sea is in the shape of a bow and an arrow when viewed from a bird's eye. The arrowhead is considered by the Hindus to be a sacred place of worship and people come there from far and wide to offer sacred prayers to the deity. In this temple, Lord Rama has his pious footmarks, and the whole Ramayana story revolves around this temple island. It is a wonderful pilgrimage site for Lord Rama's followers. Several wonderful sculptures of Lord Lakshmana were carved out of marble, and the temple also has statues of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, signifying the spirit of unity between them.
