Ooty (short for Udhagamandalam) is a tourist town in the Tamil Nadu state of southern India, in the Western Ghats mountains. Kalhatty Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls you will see on an Ooty trip, about 13 km from Ooty, on the Ooty-Mysore Route. You can reach this waterfall through a 2-mile trek from Kalahatti village. The great Hindu Saint Agastya is believed to have lived here once. With its rich avian fauna, bird watchers frequently visit it as well. Surely, its scenic beauty would leave you spellbound.

This dam is located about 10 km from the Ooty bus stand and is a popular place for picnics and film shooting. This dam, also known as the Sandynallah Reservoir, provides a quiet atmosphere with beautiful scenery where visitors can spend some time comfortably. Tiger Hill is one of the most mesmerising and most popular viewpoints in the hill town at a distance of 6 kms from the city centre in Ooty and nestled towards the lower end of the Doddabetta Peak. Droog Fort is situated 15 km from the foothills of the Nilgiris and is a historical location. As per legend, several years ago, a demon lived at the fort, so it is otherwise called Bakasura Malai. Tipu Sultan used the fort in the 18th century as an outpost, which is now a ruin with a remaining wall. Nestled 1800 metres above sea level, this enchanting fort overlooks the western ghats. It draws travellers from all over the world.
The air is mixed with the fragrance of eucalyptus oil and coffee beans, apart from the single wall over the ruins. The scenic beauty can also be captured from the watchtower.
