Tourist Places of Sivaganga
The only intact portion of the Gowri Vilasam is the temple of Sri Raja Rajeshwari, the family deity of royalty. In the evenings and on auspicious days, the temple is open to the public. Otherwise, the public is not permitted inside the walls of the palace. On such a visit, this correspondent witnessed the ruthless devastation of past grandeur. A large hall backed by multiple pillars is located south of the temple. A miniature swimming pool called Nadai Kinaru is another fascinating aspect of the palace. It is said that the tank has direct ties to supply it with freshwater and provisions to fill two enormous tanks next to the tank. This was intended especially for the royal family's daughters. An architectural splendor is in front of it in shambles. Currently intact are paintings on the dome and sides in natural colors. But tourists' signatures on the walls and murals destroyed them.
A miracle occurred in Utharakosamangai at that very moment. An immense flame erupted from the spring called Agni There, radiating divine light all around. The 1000 sages realized that they had answered their prayers and paid homage to the Holy Flame. They were so enchanted by the radiance of heaven that they utterly forgot about themselves, plunged into the spring, and died. But the lonely sage who had been entrusted the duty of protecting the Veda Agamas had spared himself.
Museum Chettinad: Don't miss the house at Chettinad, transformed into a museum next door to the Raja's palace. Among the kitchen equipment, the travel kit is the best.
