About Temple:Sathyagireeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple located at Senganur in the Thiruvidaimarudur taluk of Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, India. The historical name of the place is Seignalur. The Temple is
considered to be the 41st of the Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalams located on the Northern Banks
of River Cauvery in Chozha Naadu.

History:

• Lord Shiva blesses the devotees as a Swayambumurthy. This is the birth place of Sri Chandikeswara who blesses the devotees in all Shiva temples. Lord Bhairavar’s shrine is in the Maha Mandapam, which if tapped produces a bronze metal sound.
• It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early
  medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Tirugnanasambandar. 
• Hymns in praise of the deity have been sung by Arunagirinathar and Sekkizhar. The temple finds mention in Sekkizhar
  Periyapuranam.
  
• The temple celebrates the birth day of Chandeswara Nayanar in the month of Thai (January-February)
  on the Uthiram star day. Senganur is the birthplace of the Saivite saint Chandesha Nayanar as well as
  the Vaishnavite philosopher Acharya Priavachan Pillai.
  
• The place has twin reputation. Of the 63 Nayanmars, this is the birth place Chandikeswara with
  Easwara title-Chandikeswara. He graces in the temple in Arthanareeswarar form. Tiruvaipadi nearby is
  the place where attained salvation. He appears majestically as Lord Shiva himself with crescent moon,
  long hair, Kundalams (ear rings) and the holy Ganga on the head.
  
• Emperor Sibi, King Harichandra had worshipped Lord in this temple. Saint Arunagiriar had sung the
  glory of Lord Muruga of the temple in his Thirupugazh hymns. Epic poet Sekkizhar had beautifully
  described the reputation of the temple in his Peria Puranam. This is one of the important cities of
  Chola kings.
  
• This is also the birth place of Acharya Priavachan Pillai an eminent scholar in Vaishnavite philosophy. He
  has authored elaborate commentaries on Naalaayira Divya Prabandam singing the glory of Lord Vishnu
  sung by the great 12 Azhwars. Among his works, the Divya Prabandha Ramayanam, picking up suitable
  lines from the Prabandham is chanted by devout Vaishnavas as Nitya Parayana.

Morning Breakfast at Hotel. Check out from Hotel. To visit Sarasvati Mahal. Thanjavur Maratha Palace. Satyagireeswarar Temple, Senganur. Then proceed towards Theni. Finally drop at Theni.
